Do you believe that Google Maps is a security risk to home owners?
Google Maps has a popular tool called "Street View". Basically you take an icon that is a golden man and put him on whatever street you want to view. It shows a 360 degree view of the area. Well you can view people's home as well and I was thinking this could evade privacy.

No. You can walk down the street and see the same thing
No. Anyone can see the outside of your house if they drive or walk by.
You would see the same thing if you physically stood outside their homes.
So arm yourself. Problem solved.
And yes I do not like Google Street View.
No. The "Street View" blurs out address numbers, license plates, and anything that could possibly give the identity of the home owner to a viewer.
As other users stated, you could see the same thing walking about.
It's a very useful tool for directions etc.
Yes and no. They show you essentially what you could see with the naked eye, by driving through the neighborhood. I guess you can argue that it allows people to surveil neighborhoods without being there, without risking drawing unwanted attention to them.
I would worry more about terrorist using this tool to surveil soft targets than burglars using it. But the concept is the same.
I know. Makes me real uncomfortable. Reminds me how in DC whenever the extend the Metro lines, the crime rates always go up along those corridors.
No!
If your so worried, WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO HIDE???
No, because it doesn't really show enough detail to be useful. If you were in your backyard sunbathing naked when the Google camera took a picture, your body would just be a blur. Likewise, nobody could tell where your security cameras and so on are.
Edit: I was thinking of the aerial view when I typed that. Like others said, the street view is just whatever can be seen from the road. It's no different than anyone else driving in front of your house taking pictures and putting in on the internet for everyone to scrutinize the lenght and color of your lawn.
