what is that giant black hole on google maps near Noboribetsu, Japan?
if you go onto satellite mode on google maps and look for noboribetsu, japan you'll see this huge black circle, waht is it?
a volcano?
a lake?

I think it's a lake. I have never looked at Noboribetsu on Google Maps before, but when I was there a couple years ago, I remember seeing this beautiful lake on my way up to the Bear Park. The lake was gorgeous and when I went there it was still white from all the snow.

Lake Kuttara (倶多楽湖, Kuttara-ko?) is a near circular caldera lake in Shiraoi, Hokkaidō, Japan. It is part of Shikotsu-Tōya National Park. The lake is recognized as having the best water quality in all of Japan.With a transparency of 19 metres (62 ft), the lake ranks second only to Lake Mashū according to the Ministry of the Environment.
Resident species of the lake include a salamander species, Hynobius retardatus (エゾサンショウウオ, Ezo Sanshōuo?). Since 1909 Sockeye salmon have been introduced to the lake.
